Offers a wide range of programs to help BC Cancer patients manage the physical, emotional, social and practical concerns that come with having a cancer diagnosis and treatments
BC Cancer Supportive Care Services are available at all regional centres. Some services can be accessed
by the patient, while other require a referral from a doctor or nurse. Services include:
- Psychiatry
- Counselling/Social Work
- Nutrition
- Speech and Language Pathology
- Pain & Symptom Management/Palliative Care
- Spiritual Care
- Art Therapy, and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselling for people with cancer
Limitation: Provides supportive care for patients with cancer-related issues and with relatively severe pathology in some disciplines (e.g. dietitians do a lot more feeding tube management than advice on healthy eating).
