The L.I.F.E. Service - Developmental Disability Support

Service designed to support adults with developmental disabilities to build meaningful, self-directed lives in their communities.
L.I.F.E. (Learning, Inclusion, Friendship, and Employment) is available to anyone served by Community Living BC (CLBC) who has an employment goal, and who also want support to increase confidence and independence, connect to the community, learn new things, build friendships and a network of natural support around them.

The program provides flexible, personalized support to help individuals develop lifelong learning skills, increase independence, build friendships, participate in their community, and pursue employment. Support is delivered in real community settings and is tailored to each person’s goals, interests, and preferred schedule, including evenings or weekends when needed.

L.I.F.E. emphasizes person-directed planning, relationship-building, community inclusion, and the development of natural supports. Services can include one-on-one assistance, group participation, skill development, job exploration, and behind-the-scenes support such as planning and coordination. Support levels may increase or decrease as the person’s needs and independence change.

The service is currently available only in select BC communities, but individuals may still request it even if it is not yet offered in their area. Please reach out to inquire.
