Provides a wide array of health and wellness programs to members of the Splatsin Indian Band.
Splatsin Health Services (SHS) is funded by the First Nations Health Authority to provide health prevention and promotion services. SHS provides a comprehensive suite of prevention and promotion services and programs to band members in a supportive, culturally-safe manner. Unless otherwise noted, all services are provided at or based out of the Splatsin Health Centre. The following services are provided:
  • Harm reduction: Maintains and distributes harm reduction supplies for band members. This includes safe sex, needles, glass pipes, crystal meth pipes, sharp kits, naloxone kits and more.
  • Immunizations: Child and adult vaccines, school-based immunizations, and flu vaccine initiatives.
  • Medical Nutrition Program: Meal service provided once a week to Home Care clients. Meals are prepared from scratch using whole foods and incorporate traditional foods. Meals are delivered by members of Splatsin’s Health Team to encourage social connection and provide an opportunity for health questions.
  • Nutritional Consultations: One-on-one consultations sessions concerning diet and lifestyle adjustments for improved health. Provided by a certified holistic nutritionist.
  • Maternal Child Health Nutrition: Provides families with pre and postnatal meals based on knowledge of nutritional needs during pregnancy and the postpartum period.
  • Healthy Cooking on a Budget: This weekly program teaches food preparation skills, budgeting, shopping, food security while expanding nutritional knowledge.
  • Health and Wellness Funding: This fund helps on and off-reserve band members cover costs related to medical treatment and supplies, cultural/traditional activities, recreational fees, and extra-curricular activities up to $500.00. Complete the form and return it to the Administration Building in-person or by mail to 5775 Old Vernon Road, P.O. Box 460, Enderby, B.C., V0E 1V0 with original receipts/invoices attached.
  • Addictions Counselling: Band members experiencing addiction issues are supported with referrals to counselling and addictions and treatment detox.
  • Child and Youth Counselling: For children and youth ages 5-18 are shared between Splatsin, Adams Lake Indian Band, Little Shuswap Indian Band and Neskonlith Indian Band.
  • Financial Application Support: Individuals experiencing financial issues are supported by referrals to food banks; assistance with financial resource applications including Persons with Disability (PWD) and Appeals and Income Assistance; referrals to employment and education resources; childcare subsidy applications; referrals to income tax and debt counselling; and assistance communicating with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
  • Children's Oral Health: Children’s Oral Health Initiative (COHI) provides dental screenings and fluoride varnishes at daycare, school, the Splatsin Health Centre and at home. Dental education and supplies are also provided to children.

  • Support with contraception and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases
