Group Support for Adult Children of Alcoholics & Dysfunctional Families

Provided by Adult Children of Alcoholics & Dysfunctional Families World Service Organization

Provides peer group support for adults who experienced childhood family-related traumas.
Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACA)/Dysfunctional Families is a Twelve Step, Twelve Tradition program of people who grew up in dysfunctional homes. Peers gather to share their experience of growing up in an environment where abuse, neglect and trauma were present. ACA provides a safe, nonjudgmental environment that allows individuals to grieve their childhoods and conduct an honest inventory of themselves and their family—so they may (i) identify and heal core trauma, (ii) experience freedom from shame and abandonment, and (iii) become their own loving parents.
