Heartwood Centre for Women - Residential addictions treatment

Provided by BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre (BCWH)
The program includes 2 weeks of stabilization and assessment and 10 weeks of intensive treatment. Group programs address trauma, substance dependency, mental and physical health issues. A team of professionals including Doctors, Nurses, a Social Worker, Counsellors, a Recreation Therapist, and a Dietitian works together to provide care for clients.
Treatment approaches include trauma-specific counselling, cognitive behavioural therapy, motivational therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, psycho-education, skill development, pharmacotherapy, twelve-step programs, and peer support.
Admission Criteria:
- Current substance dependence
- Female (including transgendered women)
- BC resident age 19 and older
- Independence in activities of daily living
Referral Instructions: Referrals are received through the Health Authorities. The referral package is to be filled out by a health professional. Completed referral packages should go to the Health Authority where the client lives. Please see the referral form below.
