BC Women's Maternity (BCWH) Urgent Care Centre (UCC)

Provided by BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre (BCWH)

The province's only urgent care centre dedicated to caring for pregnant and postpartum women.
The UCC assesses and treat pregnant patients who are registered to deliver at BC Women’s Hospital + Health Centre, or have delivered and are up to six weeks post-birth, who present with acute illnesses or injuries related to their pregnancy.
Visit the Maternity Urgent Care Centre if:
  • You are experiencing bleeding in your 2nd or 3rd trimester
  • You have been diagnosed as a high blood pressure pregnancy
  • You are experiencing a lack of fetal movement
  • Your water has broken or you think you are in labour
  • You are scheduled for a C-section, but go into labour early

The Urgent Care Centre is open 24 hours a day. We aim to accept patients who have a maternity provider that works at BCWH only. If you have a maternity provider that works in another hospital and you are planning to deliver at another hospital, please go there. If you have an urgent obstetrical concern and are unable to come to the Maternity Urgent Care Centre, contact your maternity care provider immediately.
