Healthcare Providers and Mental Health - Adult

- Primary Care: Primary and preventative healthcare, including diagnosis and treatment. Provided by physicians and nurses.
- Wellness Consultation: A wellness consultation involves an initial 30-45 minute meeting with a counsellor or a nurse. The counsellor or nurse will gather some background history, discuss your goals and work collaboratively to connect you with the service that fits your needs. This could include a counsellor, nurse, physician, specialist referral, spiritual care provider, Indigenous counsellor or other resource.
- Counselling Appointment: Provides support for mental health issues such as stress, anxiety, identity, relationships, and academic challenges.
- SupportConnect: SupportConnect is a free, confidential mental health support service for UVic students. Get connected with qualified counsellors, anytime, anywhere. SupportConnect offers short-term solution-focused counselling with the same counsellor. SupportConnect is available 24/7 by phone and online. They also offer video and in-person counselling options.
- Spiritual Care Providers: A trained professional who offers emotional, existential, and spiritual support to individuals in distress, regardless of their religious affiliation.
- Programs and Groups: Throughout the year the Student Wellness Centre and Multifaith Centre host a variety of mental, spiritual, physical and wellness programming: yoga, skills sessions, game nights, career workshops, meet-ups, sleep workshops, retreats, Pet Cafe and much more. Current offerings include a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) skills group, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, ADHD support, and more.
